Patreon Update: January 2015

Welcome to my first Patreon update for 2015! This is my monthly report of how my Patreon campaign is performing, as well as my chance to thank everyone for their ongoing support.

As always, let's get started with last month's earnings. Below you can see my transparency report regarding all the pledges that were received and processed for December.

December 2014 Earnings

Simply put, the end of 2014 was truly awesome. We saw a huge increase in not only the number of patrons, but especially the total amount in pledges. This is primarily due to the perk of accessing my "Christmas 2014" videos nearly a week ahead of schedule, but hey — I'll take it!

This stat further proves my point that a select number of supporters are willing to pay for early access, and I think that's incredible. Thank you for making it possible.

Below are my detailed earnings for December 2014:

  • Pledged: $1,421 by 231 patrons
  • Processed: $1,386 by 227 patrons
  • Deductions: $86.61 credit card fees, $69.30 Patreon fee
  • Final Paid: $1,230.09

Updates

Going from November to December saw my largest amount of pledges to date, at least since my Patreon campaign launched last June. As mentioned previously, this was partly due to my holiday videos, which seem to attract a lot of attention. For example, "Christmas 2014: Part One" already has nearly 50,000 views.

In the process of acquiring 80+ patrons, I was fortunate enough to surpass my first milestone goal of $1,500+ per month. While this goal was short-lived for about a week, it was nice to at least see it happen.

Hopefully with enough support behind me, I will once again be able to surpass that same goal. It simply comes down to processing pledges successfully. Unfortunately, Patreon doesn't attempt to verify pledges until the beginning of each month — which usually results in a large amount of false pledges. Hopefully this issue is resolved at some point in the coming months.

Still though, considering all things, I'm incredibly grateful with how far my Patreon campaign has come since its debut. Despite generating a good amount of backlash from my community, it's really nice knowing that I have so many supporters who are willing to financially back my content on a regular basis. I cannot thank you enough for that. Seriously, you're making a big difference.

Starting out 2015, I've been very focused on several projects. I'm currently putting the finishing touches on Brand Rockt's first-ever video course, which is exciting. Once that is complete, I want to begin working on Squarespace Summit's overhaul.

In other words, I might seem a bit busy in the coming weeks, but things are progressing as-is for Patreon. My patrons will continue to receive their promised perks. This includes early access to videos, an entry into my monthly $25 Amazon gift card giveaway, and much more. Click here for a full list of perks.
